overfilled oil 5.4 2005 problems
just bought an 05 crew cab 5.4 triton ford with the tick and smoking problems. (smokes out of PS bank on startup) started checking components and got to oil. Previous owner overfilled engine by 4 quarts ! I don't know how long its been driven this way. What problems can be caused by so much oil in an engine? Ive never seen this before. I've drain and put proper amount of oil in. Should I drive and just see if i can evacuate all excess oil? PO said he was driving about 40 mph and lost engine power and just parked it. I bought it knowing it may need an engine but can this one be salvaged? 140k mikes
