Nope not unless your vehicle was less than 3 years old and under warranty, you got a rebuilt Motorcraft unit. they are generally good but was still rebuilt. when I buy Motorcraft remans I always go look at them and make sure I am getting one with new diodes in it half the time they look used. but yours has either a bad regulator or armature. If you got it at Ford just say hey my battery light comes on and they will swap it for you under warranty.

Ive done that once and they said they replaced it and it didnt fix the problem. Replaced the alternator last night and still having the same problems. Is there any where else i need to look before trying the PCM? New battery and New alternator and still overcharging.

make sure you are getting battery voltage to orange wire to regulator. that is the regulator reference voltage wire, if it goes low than it might want to try to charge harder, it ties into brown wire that is is has a fusible link going to battery. if it were to have corrosion the voltage could drop which in turn would make alt charge more.

They have changed it once and i changed it the other night. It moves very little. Also the back display where the mileage is( green color display) pulses. Thats odd. I checked the orange wire that goes into the main power wire that goes to the battery and that has the same voltage. Im at a stand still with the issue.

I got 3 bad alternators before finally getting a good one. They can be tempermental whether rebuilt or new. These were all from Murray's (now O'Reillys). The second and third both checked out good on the counter tester before going on the car but no good when installed.
The fourth one was the charm.
I'd be getting rid of that one before the spikes do some damage to something.
