Orifice Tube?
Where is the orifice tube on a 04 f150 screw with a 5.4? I searched google and it said orifice tubes are found in 3 places. What makes a orifice tube stop up?
Tryin to get my dads a/c workin.
Thanks for the help

Auto engineers design A/C units to activate during the defrost cycle in the winter for just this reason. If the A/C is used, then left inactive for a period of time, water in the drain (orifice tube) can stagnat and form scum/mildew, blocking the tube. Also, seals in the A/C compressor can bry out, causing very slow leaks with your freon. To help prevent or slow this from happening, the engineers have the A/C compressor cycle on whenever the defrost is selected (winter time). Even though you have the heat dial cranked to full heat, the A/C compressor cycles on.
Assuming you are talking about the A/C drain tube (orifice?), your A/C tube may be plugged, but that will not prevent the A/C from working. It would only cause the evaporator water to back up and drain into the passenger side floor area.
If your dads A/C is not working, it has other issues. Most A/C shops have free or special offers to do an A/C checkup. Recommended to do each year.

I am thinking mine needs replaced too .
They are cheap , I need to find mine on 05 . They are usually in the small line going into the evaporator ,which is your cooling coil under dash . They can get some debris in them and once the spray into the coil is reduced cooling will decrease. I have replaced my wifes explorer one but not my f150 .
You will need to pull vacuum after changing so its not really a diy project .I have all the stuff to do it but its not easy . They tend to draw moisture as soon as you open her up and they want you to replace receiver dryer at that time too .
Its very hot out there right now so make sure you run in recirculate , max ac not using outside air . You also may have to check the blend door inside the unit that blocks off the heating coil . There isn't a hot water cutoff on these cars anymore .There is a way to cut into the plastic assembly without pulling whole dash .

Some can't be replaced without replacing the liquid line.
A few things to note if you can get it out of the line, if it looks like beach sand is in it, the desiccant sack in the accumulator has ruptured, if metal or black stringy plastic is in it, the compressor is shot.
