Default Opinions on selling my truck

Hi Everyone,
I injured my back 2 months ago and been out of work with very little income.I am more than likely gonna need surgery and to find a new career, something less tough on my back.I figured id sell my truck and buy a cheap car (Fusion) for now and I have some small debts and bills id like to pay off before i start my new journey . Now i really don't want to sell it outright to the public, just don't want the hassle with tire kickers. So i stopped at 2 dealers for a buy it outright price. one was 13,500 and 14,700 firm. Now my truck is a 2008 ext cab 2 tone fx4 with luxury package, 89,000 miles, needs tires and a inner tie rod. I have rust bubbles around my filler neck.I live in NY and she's starting to rust underneath pretty good. I bought it new in feb 08 for $26,000.Its been very well maintained. Do you guys think $14,700 is a decent deal or What do you think its worth? Any input would be appreciated.

Being someone shopping around for a similar truck online, that sounds like a great deal, I wonder how much they would be able to sell it for. You didn’t even lose half of what you bought it for NEW after six years! BTW, what was the sticker price on it? $26K for an FX-4 sounds like a killer deal.

I live on Long Island, looking at trucks down South to try to avoid rust. Are you upstate NY? Sounds like a pretty new truck for rust.

I agree with avoiding tire kickers.. however dealers can be pieces of crap and will screw you over. However, if you end up going through that dealer for a car, then you might as well. I know in most areas, the f150's keep their value. I bet you could get another 2k selling private.

Try selling it yourself first. You won't get anything from the stealership!

So is 14,700 a decent price from the dealer?

I'd say so, why not search autotrader in your area or other local classified websites? It should give you an idea on what the dealership will sell yours for, then go from there.
