Opinions on Bilstein 4600s? Rancho RS5000s?
My shock absorbers need replacing. I'd like to replace them with some shocks that would be just a bit better than stock, but I don't need hardcore racing shocks or anything.
I do some off road driving every fall for hunting season, so some performance would be nice. But I also drive my wife and 2-year-old daughter around in my truck, so I don't want something too firm for them.
Has anyone tried Bilstein 4600s on their F-150? What about Rancho RS5000s? How does the ride feel now?
Is there a brand/model of shock I should be considering?
BTW, my truck is an '04 F-150 Lariat (screw) with the 5.4L and 4-wheel drive.

I have the Bilsteins HD on my 2wd, and I rather regret them, as I think they are stiffer than I would like, causing a slight vibration at highway speeds.
I am going to pick up the adjustable shocks as soon as I can...

I have the Rancho quicklifts and the RS9000xl shocks in the rear. I like that they are adjustable and i'm very happy with them so far. The only thing is they are about double the price of the 50000's at around $80/ea.

Do those Ranchos give you a nice plush ride? These HD's weren't exactly cheap, and I didn't do the quick lifts with coil, I compressed the damn thing myself...never again...

It is definitely a nice soft ride. I have the front set on 7 and the rear on 5 and that seems to me like a good setting. It's soft and comfortable, but still firm enough to not feel sloppy. Yeah I got the loaded quicklifts, I didn't want to deal with the springs, and i don't think they make the unloaded ones anymore. could be wrong about that though
