Kind of high mileage I wouldn't believe anyone about replacement of motor/transmission without proof. So check if he had that then I'd offer 7500 to start if they was replaced with proof if he has no proof I would keep looking.

Also agree on the high mileage, and if they were swapped maybe try to make sure whoever did it knows what they were doing. Definitely get it looked at a shop, or not if that's your thing. I would want to know which engine it had, what model bilstens and exhaust, and how much life the tires had. Could be ok if they had service records for most of the life of the truck.

Also looks like it books around $8500ish, and some might argue it's worth more because of the new engine and tranny but I personally completely see it that way. I wouldn't pay over book, especially if you have to finance it.

could be a good deal. I think you might have some good negotiating power considering you have the cash to drop on it.

another thing to remember tires at that size are expensive too i just spent 1k on 33s so make sure you have extra cash for tires if they arent in good condition. i would look for something stock over trucks with added accessories like 6 inch lifts and stuff you never know who installed them if they was installed correctly ect ect. last thing i would do with any 5.4 v3 is take it on about a 45 minute or more test drive with INCLOSED or CLOSELY WALLED spaces cant stress that enough, I couldnt hear the ticking on my truck at the sellers house (wide open area) nor the areas around his house i drove it, got back to my area with much less "open" space and sure enough i heard the dang cam phaser tick... If i could do it over i'd probably just got a 4.6 and not have to worry about cam phasers other than that issue though i love my truck best vehicle ive ever owned/driven.
