Default This one will stump you!! Elec.

So i went to start my truck and turn the key and NOTHING. No dome light but headlights were on... Heard a fast clicking coming from under my steering wheel so figured it was battery related. AAA came out and tested my battery and it passed, he ever tried a brand new one and the problem still was there. We checked every single fuse and i even swapped around the relays but nothing did the trick. I was REALLY hoping someone had some ideas because the garage that has it now tried to make me buy a battery...i was like "ummmm NO" ha Luckily i know what i'm talking about! PPlease help guys! Thanks!!

No when i turn the key there is no noise, no NOTHIN! My starter was just replaced a month ago. I have plenty of power everywhere except my ignition, the dome light, radio and windows. When i remove my key after trying to turn it over thats when i hear a faint clicking coming from under my dash on drivers side.

My wifes truck just did this after I pulled the stereo with the battery still live. Exact same symptoms you're describing. I was panicked thinking I set off a security feature but I disconnected the battery for a few minutes and it fired off and everything was normal after that.
Edit:
(Well if you if you swapped batteries, scratch that idea) Good luck

My dad's truck did this last month. 3 months ago they put I a'new' starter and all the sudden last month the truck died and did that faint clicking you are talk about. We got it towed back to the shop and it turns out they put a re manufactured starter in and that was the issue.

Sounds like you might be losing ground. Run a jumper cable as an extra ground wire to test.

Check this little connector, there is actually a TSB on this issue. It gets a little corroded and this is the wire that goes to the starter. Wiggle the wire and see if you can get it to work. The TSB replaces the connector.

Turns out it was my instrument cluster. Luckily I had an extra one on hand. There was some kind of short in it.
