Default Old favorite...Cam Phasers. What if I don't fix?

The knocking from the cam phasers in my 2004 FX4 5.4L has gotten almost unbearable. It truly sounds like a diesel at this point. My question is, what is a likely scenario for this engine if I don't repair it? Just trying to understand what a worst case scenario might be. Thanks for the help.

I would like to know the answer to that question as well! I have the same truck, but mine are not as load. You only hear mine when I put the truck in gear and even then you have to listen for them.

me, 79000. Mine knocks too, just saving enough to get them fixed. Im a salesman at Ford dealership and talk to the service advisors quite a bit. Over time, it will F--- the motor up, cuz it throws the timing off

I have 84k on mine. Anyone have experience with getting the phasers repaired/replaced? Costs? Thanks for the feedback.

mine was under warranty. One of the phasers was completely pooched. I had no power and no idle at a set of lights, I barely made it home. If you can just get it over with and fix it
