I know desiel guys do it all the time but how does it affect our gas trucks? It would most likely be running at idle overnight for between 6-8 hours. I only need to do it this Monday night so it's not going to be multiple times.

I started my truck once in the winter to let it warm up and then forgot that it was running lol. Well it ran out of gas so I just dumped some in and the baby fired right up. Not actually what you were looking for but it ran for 5 hours before running out of gas and I didn't notice any difference when it started back up.

Leaving a gas engine running at idle for hours at a time is bad for it. Once won't kill it but it will build up wicked carbon if you do it much. Why do you need to let it idle for eight hours on Monday?

It's Mardi GRAS season here in New Orleans and this Tuesday is Mardi Gras day and everyone camps out the night before on the parade route so I was going to park overnight to save my family's spot so we'll have the truck there during the day and use the bed.

Well, I'll be inside the truck during the night. We'll use the bed during the parades. I'm hoping if it's cold enough I'll just lower the windows and won't need the truck for the a/c.

My oversight, but I left a 4 cyl. run 8 hours. Maybe it was just coincidental but more moisture in the crankcase and burned oil afterward. Coolant temperature and circulation would concern me most.
