Default Oil Pressure Numbers

Did a little searching, but I wasn't happy with the results I found.

Anywho... Got my OP gauge wired in today after installing it months ago. Fresh oil change with 5-20 and some Lucas to boot. Start up pressure was about 65psi and was down to just above 40ish at warm idle after 5-10 mins of driving. I'm sure it will drop a little more when I start putting some miles on it. I didn't have much time to drive it as I'm stuck at work til tomorrow AM.

My question is. What numbers are you guys seeing at start up and hot idle? I've also seen where some of yall run different weights because you get low numbers on the hot idle.

Anything over 25 psi HOT HOT HOT is considered excellent. You need to take that puppy down the highway, up a hill, drifting through a school parking lot... Idling will not do it and neither will 5-10 mins. If you're still above 25 you are good to go and have a well cared for motor

Yes I used a sandwich adapter. I was waiting till my oil change which took so long to get it finally all together and finish the install.

65psi on startup, 70-75psi under power, and 32psi after a good highway ride. It crept back up to 40 after sitting a while idling.

This is one parameter I don't know why my Edge can't display. Can anyone tell me why it can't get that number if there's a gauge on the dash?

Follow the thread above if you're looking for a "how to". What gauges you use is up to you. I used VDO quarter sweeps.
