oil pressure drops at idle
#21
As long as your not seein' oil on the ground when your oil pressure drops, or any evidence in your coolant, and your dipstick reads normal, I think your okay. But definately check the sensors, change that oil filter it may be clogged up ya should be able to change oil filters without draining oil out, but still use an oil pan when you pull it cause oil does sit in that bad boy still waitin til the pump pushes it along.

Cycle For Fun and Health
Most likely the cause is either the sending unit bad or the oil pump pick up screen is plugged. An easy way to test is to install a manual guage where the sending unit is.
I have had both issues in different trucks. The pump screen being plugged will eventually guarantee engine failure. Flushing and changing oil will not unplug the blockage.
The sending unit itself is only an on/off switch that does not tell how much pressure there is - only that there is enough to open the contacts.

oil pressure dropping
I have an 03 ford f150. At idle the oil pressure dropped to 0. I replaced the pressure sensor. Its right next to the oil filter. Fixed the problem and was inexpensive.

2013 F150 5.0L 2WD. 260,000miles
I had the same issue. Oil pressure warning would come on when at idle or cruising below 1500RPM then would go off above 2000RPM.
I replaced the oil pressure sending sensor. Was $15 at Autozone. I also bought a 21mm deep socket.
the sensor was very easy to replace. Crawled under the driver side towards the front and it was behind the alternator. Note that you will get a little oil come out, very little, but have something to catch it.
my sensor had leaked oil into the electrical connection. One thing I have not read is to clean the oil out of the connector. I used an electronics cleaner and sprayed it several times until it was perfectly clean.
Problem solved and this can be done in about 30min start to finish and cleanup.
21 mm socket, bought it at Autozone also
Electronic solvent cleaner. Works like a champ
The old sensor
Oil inside the connection
