Oil Filter Help Please ! 2006 F-150 FX4
I have an 2006 f-150 fx4 with a brand new engine and tranny installed from the factory less then a year ago so today i decided to try and save some money and do my oil my self since i had some time went to auto zone bought the motocraft filter and 7 qts of motocraft oil i keep it all original like recommended i drained the oil and took the filter off no problem then here is the tricky part that i can't explain i spent 2 hours trying to screw the new filter back on and nothing for the life of me i couldn't get it so i thought well damn I'm just not cut out for this oil thing so i called a friend who is a mechanic he came over spent another hour trying to screw it on and couldnt get it after a total of 3 hours all together fighting it i decided maybe it was just a bad filter went back to store since they were only a few bucks bought another motorcraft and just cause i was fed up i also bought a K&N a FRAM and a BOSCH i took one every filter they had got home spend another 30 minutes nothing not one of then would catch on the threads so my friend said give me the old filter withering 30 seconds the old filter screwed right back on no problem we tried over and over and everytime the old filter went right back on so i just left it back on filled with new oil I'm not sure what i need to do next??
i have a full warranty on my engine maybe the dealer ship did something to the threads ? any advice would be much appreciated thank you!

I have an 06 also, and it has metric threads on the oil filter flange. I know there is one that is std thread-so perhaps your engine has that one instead of the metric one. Only thing I can think of right now-very strange. Good Luck!
P.S-A good Parts guy should be able to look up one with std threads.

I also have an 06 and I always do my oil changes. It can be a little tricky to get the filter lined up right, but if it took multiple people multiple hours without success, there's got to be some kind of problem. I've got no answers for you, but I'm interested in what others have to say. Good luck.

In 2006 they list 2 different oil filters one has metric threads like mentioned above and the other has standard threads. Take your old oil filter in and let them cross refrence the numbers on it.

Luckily, I have not had this issue, was the one you took off the same as the one you were putting on? Motorcraft?, I don't know if different year engines had different filters, but how about taking your old one in and having them match the threads up? Make sure that you get a good filter with the drainback valve. Let us know what you figure out. Good Luck.
