NGM i have seen those clump before the oil was even supposed to be changed... i have even seen mobile 1 put in a pontiac vibe and come out in clumps at 3K.... the vibe doesnt surprise me because it runs very hot.. the toyota 4 and 6 cylinders are bad about running hotter and unless you use a very, very good oil it will do that.. that is how they take care of most of the emissions. Most of my customers that had cadillacs did there oil change at 5K, when they ask me what id do i told them 3K to 3500. But then again most northstars cant keep oil in them long enough. Usualy running about 1 to 2 quarts low between oil changes after a couple of years.

Do what you will. Me, I'll stick with Motorcraft. 174,000+ miles on my '99 F-150. It doesnt burn a drop of oil, it still pulls 17 mpg on the highway and it still runs like a brand-new truck. (knock on wood)
