Oil Drain Plug Tap

Oil Drain Plug Tap
The oil drain plug on my 2004, 5.3 with 210,000 miles on it, is shot. I got a new one to put in at the next oil change, but have begun to think that I probably need to get a tap to run thru the hole to make sure the threads are OK. What size is the drain plug hole?

I've seen some that are a standard size and are self-tapping. I think you can get them at any auto parts store, especially the big ones like Auto Zone, O'Reilly's, Pep Boys, etc.
I forgot to add that the one's I'm talking about actually have a brass plug within a steel casing. So, once it self-taps, that part stays in place and is "permanent". To drain the oil you'll unscrew the brass plug from within the steel one.
BUT....I'd go with a Ford solution before aftermarket.
