Default OIl Dipstick Tube Replacement

Ok got a 06 Lincoln Mark LT 4X4 trying to replace oil Dipstick tube. Have new one got old one out. New one doesent seem to want to go all the way in any suggestions? ive tried twisting and turning it like crazy just not sure if there is a trick im missing any help would be awsome.......Been fighting it for 3 days now....old one was bent up when we pulled engine to replace ...... to my suprise I broke the crank in 2 anyhow new engine is in truck now the dipstick tube is giving me a fit please helpppppppppppppppp

You probably already checked, but I have to ask: Did any of the old dipstick tube break off in the hole? Worth a check. If not, have you tried polishing the part of the tube that inserts with some fine sandpaper or scotchbrite pad?

On the '05, the dipstick tube broke off (rusted in) and I had to remove the oil pain to carefully drill out the tube remnants from the bottom. The new ones go in quite hard. If I recall, I think I tapped it in from the top side with a long, skinny brass drift.
