No its not ok, my 07 5.4 has never consumed oil and still doesn't. Nor is it ok for any car to consume oil.

I talked to my dealer cause like alsatropine said mine burns about .5 quarts every 5000 miles also and they told me by fords standards that a motor can burn a qt every 9xx miles and still by normal.

I don't recall the exact mileage but it was in the 900's. fords standards does sound kinda of relaxed here but still according to ford oil consumption is normal.

Schm- as long as you remember to check it every so often and it doesn't get a lot worst, to where your fogging for Mosquitos(smoking), I wouldn't worry abut it.

I always put 8 quarts of oil in my truck and don't even check it between oil changes (3k miles).

Who's to say what's "ok"? For some people, no oil consumption is permitable. For others, adding a quart between oil changes is necessary.

Engines wear, its a part of life. Putting a 4 buck quart of oil in seems "ok" to me, when the alternative is rebuilding the engine of an 8 year old truck with 160k miles.

Some may argue this, but I honestly don't believe there is any additional wear on an engine if its burning a little bit of oil. Maybe the cats will get clogged quicker, I honestly don't know, but I really don't think you're up a creek if you're a little burning oil.
