Ya 3,000 miles is a thing of the past. Quick lubes want your money. Factory recommended intervals are way over that. Check you owners manual. European vehicles are mostly 10,000-20,000 mile oil change intervals. Just make sure to check everything ever or every other week.

you bet.
Never had any problems with Frams. I don't buy into the internet hype or Bob is the oil guy hype that Frams are bad or we should use nothing but Motorcraft filters in our trucks.
Maybe their low end filter has problems but I never had problems with the xtended guard filters.
I'll see what this filter is like after 10k mile oil change and I get the oil analyzed.
If the filter ends up being a problem and contaminates the oil I'll come back and eat crow and jump on the Fram sucks bandwagon.

Basically what I am asking is: is it ok to only get an oil change every 5000-7500 miles? Or should I do what everyone says and get it changed every 3000 miles? It seems like a bit of a waste to change it every 3000 miles, am I right in thinking that? I am sorry if this has been posted before, i'm still pretty new to these forums so please don't get mad if it has.
You need to be running synthetic and an extended drain filter. I suggest Mobil 1 and an M1 filter or Fram Ultra. Start with shorter oil change Intervals and slowly work your way up just incase theres any sludge accumulation.

Im running M1 0w40 to 10k miles in my truck with a bosch premium. I change the filter at 5k and top off the oil.

Fram Ultra is one of the best filters on the market...im not a fan of the Orange can though.

MC filters are a good bargon filter and thats IT. Dont know why theres such a cult following for a plain jane purolator with a silicone adbv....
