Default OEM wheel and center cap issues.

I bought some OEM wheels to use for the winter but they didn't come center caps or lugs. I was able to find some on ebay but I'm having a hard time keeping the center caps from falling off....is there a trick to this or am I just a noob?!?

Here's the rim mounted on my truck:

Here are the center caps:

Here are some bigger lugs I bought thinking the other ones are too small:

Thanks in advance!!!

doesnt look like the caps have the metal spring ring that keep it on the lugnuts.

exactly what he says. you have missing the metallic ring that acts like an spring. that ring goes into the cuts you can see in each socket in the cap

the ring looks somewhat like this:

Those caps do not use a ring. They rely on the factory lugnuts to hold them on. The nuts shown in the pic will not work with those caps. The factory nut has a built in lip that the fingers on the cap pop over.

I see this is a pretty old post, but I ran into this exact problem last week. I wasn't about to spend $4 a nut either. Instead, I bought a thing of clear silicone from walmart and goop'd up the parts of the cap where it makes contact with the rim (making sure it didn't come into contact with the hub or studs. Silicone is weather proof and will not harm your rim and it holds just enough to stay on but easily pops the hubcap off if you need to take it off. The old silicone just peels off and you can reapply new silicone later. Hope this helps someone.

Yeah you need to use the factory lug nuts. As others said, there is no spring clip to use. The lug nuts you have above(chrome) you do not want to use. the ones in the first pic look correct.

How did you determine those are the correct center caps? I don't ask to say you did it wrong, but, did you match an OE PN to it? Ford had a lot of cap styles for the f150...
