Odd clanging noise from the right -REAR- thoughts? -
I have an odd noise I'm trying to track down. I think it may be the front hub but I do not know (I have the unshielded IWE vacuum solonoid and 85K on the clock).
At first it only did it periodically when I put the brakes on and turned. It sounds like someone is hitting a piece of steel with a hammer, but tinny in sound. It is definately rotational with a single "ping" for each rotation. It is starting to happen more often now. I think I'll replace the vacuum thing just to be safe.
I jacked the truck up and there was no play in the wheel as far as ball joints or tie rod ends. I pulled the brakes off and didn't find anything. I have kicked it into 4 Hi when the noise was happening and it remained even after I feel everything engage.
I'd rather not take it to the dealership but I fear I may have to.

i don't think its your hub or the vacuum problem. that is odd. try and take it for an alignment! I go to firestone and they tell me what wrong and then want me to spend a 1000 dollar and i tell em pack it up i do it myself!
