Hey guys, I have a 06 f 250 5.4 with 202,000 miles on it. I was wondering if replacing the o2 sensors would make it run better with them being high milage. Truck runs sluggish sometimes. Thanks

I would replace them. Even if they are still technically working, they get lazy and don't respond as quickly. In all my cars, I replace them about every 50-60k miles. New ones probably won't solve the sluggishness, but they will help your mpg's little and more importantly help the engine run better. If your not getting any codes, and the motor sounds good, then odds are you need a good tune up.

thanks that's probably what I'll end up doing. Just replacing them. I just did my plugs about 2,000 miles ago. Just checking things off the list maintenance wise.

No problem. Just a little tip, a 7/8 open wrench worked perfect for me. If you can't get your hand up to disconnect the connector on the passenger side, you can remove the inner fender well for easier access.

I just did this, go to Auto Zone and rent the special tool designed to remove the Ford 02 sensors. One of the sides is a real pain to get too, I think it was the passenger side. Much less frustrating using the tool than the other tools/ways I tried.

FWIW, I changed my upstream sensors out at 160,000 and the live data stream indicated no difference. MPG didn't change at all.

Look up how to use seafoam and run this through the fuel tank, crank case and vacuum line BEFORE you change your O2 sensors to clean whatever carbon out of your engine that you can. Do this around 200 miles before an oil change. Swap to a full synthetic oil if not already. Sometimes you can foul these O2 sensors with a deep carbon cleaning! PITA! LOL

Thanks for all the input guys. Should be doing this soon along with a few other things!! Are the down streams not as important to replace?
