Thanks rob i kind of think it will be more practical of my time to head to the dealership and pay the $$$ instead of pulling my seat off. I used to tape a key to my windsheild wiper arm with black electrical tape and you would never notice it was their but these for keys are so big and bulky it would not work

I just went through the same thing. If you don't have the card in your owners manual you have to get the code from the dealer (about $38). this is the permanant code if you want to add a personal code that is easier to remember you have to enter the perm code hit the 1/2 button then enter your 5 diget personal code, the doors will lock/unlock to let you know it took. I too looked everywhere for this code with no luck and for the $38 that was cheaper than the time it would have taken to remove the back seat if it really is back there.

How do you get the seat back off? I took a look at mine and the only thing I can really find are three straps going through metal brackets along the top of the seat.

According to Ford's manual, you have to remove the cover to the center seat belt and remove the 2 nuts that hold it on to the rear wall, then undo the buckle down below.

To locate the retaining clips, align a screwdriver with the inboard portion of the outboard LATCH attachment points. Be careful not to damage the seat trim covers. Make contact with the rounded portion of the backrest frame and work the screwdriver upward until the screwdriver clears the rounded portion of the backrest frame. At this point the screwdriver should be located at the access hole. Press down on the backrest slightly (this is crucial, otherwise the retaining clip may not release), press the screwdriver rearward to release the retaining clip, then lift the backrest upward. Repeat this process to release the other side of the backrest.

Good luck.

I just went through this. I went to my local dealer, and paid to get my master code. They hooked a laptop up to a port under the steering wheel, and within minutes I had my master code. They offered to re-program the code to whatever I wanted. I didn't have time. Later I used my master code, and with the help of the owners manual changed the code to something I can remember.

Stealership here says it can get it for me with a computer for $45.

Rob MFK.

Did you pull the top section of the back seat off? It's on the back wall on the drivers side. Your locals are wrong on the location.
