Hi guys, I finally got my truck out of the shop were i got my engine rebuilt, new everything pretty much, pistons, valves, lifters, oil pump, etc. it's running great now, no more noise and has power now. The only thing im not sure about is the idling when come to a complete stop, is not steady 100% and it kinda sputters a little bit, it takes off normal and while driving it cant feel a thing, it's more noticeable when i have the heat on. Im not very familiar with these trucks and maybe is normal that they're not the smoothest vehicles. Do you think is normal? I still have to break it in and do a new oil change, I've only driven it for 50 miles so far. Have new spark plugs and coils as well. Thanks for your help!

Does it do it worse when the defrost is on or just regular heat? The low idle, from what I've read, is normal for these trucks. If it gets a little worse with defrost or AC, it is pretty normal. I have come to understand that when the defrost is on the AC pump is also going to recondition the air. If it is just fine under all other conditions, then I would say it is ok. Maybe there is an adjustment somewhere for air/fuel, but if you trust your mechanic then I would think they got all the settings to optimum adjustment until after the break-in period.

I will have to check on the defrost thing, you might be right. It definitely is worse when heat is on but even when off it sputters a little, like is not smooth and has the hiccups sometimes

I would take it back to the shop and have them look at it. Seems to me with all that work they should guarantee it to run perfectly.

That's exactly what I thought. To me it's not normal, no matter if it's not broken in yet. He just said that these trucks run like that... Don't think so...

Naw, they dont just run like that. With what you spent, it should be smooth as a new motor.

You're right. It's best to have them look at it if not satisfied with the way it runs. I've never had a brand new rebuilt engine so I can't speak from experience on that but I can speak from experience about idle going up and down if defrost or ac is on. It puts more of a load and can change rpms.

First thing I think of is to clean the MAF and TB.
