Codes P2196 and P0304
Driving to work this morning, my truck started to vibrate badly and the engine light started flashing. I was able to get it home and pulled the codes P0304 and P1296. I have had a COP go bad in the past, but this is the first time getting the P1296 code. I have read posts of this possibly being an injector problem. Should I change the COP (wife is running to NAPA for me), or bring it in to the dealer? It is a 2005 5.4 with 94K miles on it.

The p0304 is misfire on cylinder 4. Could be an injector as the 05's have a known isuue with injectors which should be covered under extended warranty. Could also be the COP. I would swap the COP with another cylinder and see if the misfire follows the COP.
The 2196 code is a O2 sensor code. It is detecting a rich/lean condition (can't remember which one off hand) most likely caused by the misfire.

My wife already picked up the new COP, so I will put that in and see what happens. Last time I had to replace one, I did get another code. I can't remember if it was the same 2196 or not. Hope it clears up. If it is the injector, hopefully the dealer will honor the warrantee (I downloaded and printed a copy just in case).

I have a 2005 5.4 with 99k on it. Last year it started running a little rough, I thought it was bad gasoline because it was not consistent. One day it started knocking. That is when I took it to the dealership and they informed me that the injectors were sticking open and my rod was bent. I was a recall situation so I got a new motor free of charge. I would definitely get it checked and find out about recall.
