Always use a motorcraft filter in these motors, when it comes to brand and weight of oil its up to you there is a lot of discussions out there about it. I use 5W-30 Mobile One with a motorcraft filter.

... while I am an advocate of the MC filters, I use only "high-mileage" type oils, that are allowed to include higher amounts of zinc, etc than "regular" oils. It's all about the legal code stuff.

Thats excellent information. I think my truck just became a high mileage vehicle. Thanks!

I use to use Valvoline motor oil.
I just go to my dealer & use the Ford Oil & Ford Filter.
Your engine oil cap will have the recommended weight.

High mileage to me is over 200K. I used motorcraft 5W20 in all my ford vehicles for over 15 years now and NEVER had a internal problem. This is with several over 150K.

"What is High Mileage these days?"

Most oil bottles state 75K miles as their "advertising reference" as high mileage. You can use whatever number you want...the oils are not much different in price from "normal" oil.

When I was a kid, any car/truck that made it to 100K with an original engine and transmission was remarkable. Modern cars usually breeze past 200K without notice.

This even while using lower viscostiy oils than the olden days "standard use" of 10W-40 in just about every engine application.
