Noise from front half of truck somewhere?
I know there are a lot of these mystery noise threads on the site and I have tried to read all of them.
Well here is my problem, 2004 F-150 4x4 supercrew 5.4L 4''lift 35'' tires about 56k miles, I here the noise when I get above about 45mph. It is when I am in the higher rpm range but when I let off the pedal and just cruise the noise goes away. But if i Step on it and I shot the rpm's up higher the noise comes back. The noise sounds like metal on metal, not a bad grinding noise, the only way I could try to describe it is if you took a metal pipe and turned it round in a larger pipe. Make any sense?? The noise doesnt get any worse when I turn. I hear the noise A LOT when I am towing my boat, guessing because I am in the higher rpm range more? I am at a stop sign and I punch the throttle and keep accelerating, like I mentioned before dont hear it till about 45-50 mph.
Any suggestion would help, about to tear into it this weekend.
