Noise at 2250 RPM
So I've searched a couple times, but really I'm just not sure what to search for, so please don't hate me!
I have an 06 F150 4.6L with about 99k miles.
The truck makes an odd noise when the engine hit 2250 rpm. It doesn't pull any less hard, the trans doesn't clink or anything and as soon as I go under or above it, the noise goes away. It's like a moanish kind of thing. really its just louder then normal.
I saw some things that it could possibly be vacuum lines, but nothing definitive. Any ideas?

Any update on this? I have the same kind of thing going on in my 5.4l. Some research suggests the tensioner pulley as a suspect... I can best describe it as almost a metal on metal whirring noise, not too high pitched, but not a low pitched groan. Happens under medium load, like when I'm going up hill, and always at 2250 RPM and a little bit at 2500 RPM, but as soon as I give it more or less throttle it goes away...

x2! I've had the train whistle for a little over a year. I even recently changed the air filter and cleaned the throttle body, had everything apart and didn't notice that the foam gasket was almost completely gone. Stopped by the local hardware store, put $5 on it and no more whistle. My idle has smoothed out also. Why I waited so long is a wonder to me.
