It's likely something "simple". Could be a faulty seal or a broken snap ring. Fact is the transmission will need to be torn down to fix it.

that's understandable. Parts probably don't make too much difference in cost when you have to pull the trans, open it and search for 1 or 5 problems. Just trying to get a better feel for how much it might cost based on some I the info I provided. Thanks for all the help guys, and keep it coming.

If you are opening up the transmission it would be very who of you to rebuild it while you're there

Only way to get a true estimate is to make some calls to tranny shops in your area. You can likely save a few hundred dropping it yourself.

yeah I've heard that. Only trouble would be transporting it once I got it out. That's first thing on the list tomorrow morning. I get to make an obscene amount of phone calls. Thanks again for the spit balling guys.

My situation was not quite the same as yours, but I had an overreving and banging into gear problem that was fixed with a SureCure kit from sonnax. I pulled the valve body and installed it with a new filter and fluid and it fixed my problem. It might be a good thing to try if you cant have much down time.

Trucks at the shop. Having a trusted mechanic giving it the once and twice over. I had no way to pull the tranny myself so I'm having him do it. The quote he gave me was $2340 for an upgrade full rebuild with a 1yr/12k mile warranty parts and labor.
