Default No power steering at idle or low RPM!

Has anyone had any power steering issues with their trucks? It seems at an idle or low RPM I have no power steering, I found this out yesterday making a turn and almost missed the turn not expecting to not have any power steering. If I rev the engine it works ok, but as soon as I let off the gas it goes away. does this sound like a pump problem?

You got air in the lines somewhere. Did you just put a new pump in? I did in my old Chevy and I always had to rev it in neutral to get power steering back.

Also check your fluid levels. But it does sound like air in the lines.

The steering system has not been touched. Fluid is full.

I just dropped my truck off yesterday to get the pump replaced. I had a hard time steering when it was at idle, and when I would put it in gear it would whine about it. It would eventually get better as it warmed up.

Sounds like the vanes in the pump are worn. They are fine at high rpm's because the vanes can move more fluid but at a slower speed the vanes cant produce enough pressure. My money is on the pump, its a basic a system, there are only two main components; pump and rack.
