Default No power at diagnostic plug port

2004 f150. When I plug in my code scanner it will not power up. Checked all fuses. All good. Any ideas?

Did you check the fuses with a multimeter or just visually? Check fuse 41 carefully, it powers the data link connector and the cigarette lighter outlet.

Ditto on using a multimeter. Make sure you have power to the fuse. If you do, and the fuse is good, use the multimeter to start chasing wires and connectors.

New guy here.
2004 XLT Supercab. 5.4 auto, 4X4 7700 series (7 lugs on each wheel)

No power to fuse #41 (actually a circuit breaker).
Naturally there is no power to the Data Link Connector nor the cigarette lighter.

Found this out when I plugged in my scanner to diagnose a intermittent rough running condition and checked the post above from edwin108.

My Chiltons doesn't have the necessary schematic and it will take a few days to locate a Factory Service Manual.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, L.M.

I guess I need to have my glasses checked. The circuit breaker is actually 401.

Since it will take a few days to get a Factory Service Manual, I decided to check ALL the fuses. When I got to one that was bad, I looked in the owners manual to see what the fuse did. DUH! #41. Replaced the 20A. fuse, got my codes and all is well.

I'm not really stupid, I just can't see all that well.

Good Luck, L.M.

Default Oh! I hear you

No that's not right- I can't hear good at 70 or see good . Thank god I have three high power led flashlights in truck .Seems like cigarette lighter always gets coins or screws down in them and pow she's out .
