Default No 4x4 high

I have an 04 Screw Lariat with electric 4x4 selector switch. Here is the problem. I can switch in to 4lo with no problem but as the title says i have no 4hi. When i switch it into 4hi the 4hi light on the cluster blinks ones and it does not feel like the front engages. I am thinking the switch may be going out. Has anyone else had this problem or have any other ideas.

thanks

Ok found some dry pavement and then a snow drift. I put it in 4hi and made a tight turn on dry pavement and could feel the hop like the front lockers were working. Then put it into a snow bank to see if the 4hi light was just not working, needless to say i could not get the front do to anything until i stuck it in 4low.

ya i had read the thread but there is no grinding sound, just not engaging. But i will probably replace the part to see if that is the problem.

It wont grind until it gets worse...replace the switch when it first acts up..or as a preventative measure..and you wont get to the point where its starts to make noise.
All I can tell you is that I had the same problem as you and others..no light in high 4x4.or it would flicker...put it in low 4x4 and could hear it engage and light came on.In high 4x4 it seemed to be engaged..but the weather here made it hard to know for sure but it had some wheel skipping when parking as it would in 4x4..but even off it seemed to steer harder in tight spots.Thought i heard a little something but it could of been road hum.Again the weather was working against me.I replaced the switch within 2 days of this happening..problem solved.

that front end isnt one of those traction sensing 4x4hi's is it? like where it has to sense the rear does not have traction to engage the front end?
