Meh. Two sides to every story. Tow stap is better for certain situations, the biggest problems with chains is that most people don't know how to use them. I carry a chain because I can use it for many things besides pulling someone out of a snow drift.... A tow stap is pretty much one dimensional......


You ever try pulling out a dead tree with a tow starp???? doesn't work very well...

Default strap/chains

I've used both... just for what I've done here in Va Beach I've only needed a strap, easier to stow, lighter to haul around, dosen't rust in the truck when not being used. Now back in Montana, or OHIO where I've lived... out on the muddin trips I carried both.

I have straps and 2" tow rope. No chains and no cables for me....

I use my early Bronco for pulling out things and others...gives you that, har...har feeling.
