Default New wheels today!!

On my way to pick up some new wheels for the ol girl tonight! Got a sweet deal on some 20 inch Roush wheels and I'm meeting the guy tonight! Got all four for 300 bucks! I'm going to need to examine them and they may turn into a project but I couldn't pass up the price!

So I went and picked em up. They are pretty beat up. The chrome is flaking pretty bad around the lug but holes and is about gone on the barrels and the back side of the wheels. I told him 300 was even gonna be steep so we ended up agreeing on 200 because I'm not sure how much work I'm going to need to put into the wheels to refinish them. They are authentic Roush wheels though so if I can refinish them I think I can still end up ahead when compared to the price of them new. I am thinking of getting them sand blasted by a local guy I found. Then I was going to go through a process and just paint them. I will keep this thread updated as the project goes on and please feel free to add any tips/input/suggestions.

On that color, I think gloss black powder coat would look really nice.

Paint to match would be kinda neat I never thought of that. I was thinking of powder coating them I have been reading they don't hold up to normal wear and year though? I was thinking a black or silver/gunmetal though for sure. Because I don't think it will be worth it to have them re chromed as far as price is concerned

Gun metal would look nice.

Aren't painted wheels powder coated? I don't think they are sprayed.

I would assume so but I was under the impression it was a different process. I'm no professional though so you're probably correct

Here's about what all four look like which is about the worst of each wheel. I'm going to have them sand blasted by a local guy. He told me that it's going to be hard to have them powdered with the layers of nickel and copper underneath the chrome so I'm probably going to just get them blasted, hit em with a self etching primer, a real primer, probably a gunmetal paint, and clear them and hopefully but some tires!

Oh wow, not sure if $200 is still worth it. You are looking at another couple hundred in blasting, primers and paint, unless you know someone thats giving you a deal.
