You have a spot on my team come doomsday!
I like the ingenuity!
The only thing I can see a bit dangerous about the design is how it can lock passengers in should they need to get out in a panic.. Plus, if someone opens the door while the running boards are up, then you will pretty much guarantee a door ding..
Not trying to stifle your creativity at all here. I'm just trying to help you nail down a near perfect design...
Maybe make them so they are purely mechanical, so every time you get in or out through any door, there will be a mechanical lever that pushes the board back down with out the need for electricity..

Thanks for the invite. I really did not post all the safety devices in this vehicle.. And you are right, we can not lock anyone inside. So I have placed a switch in the door jam so when you pull on the inside door handle (front doors only because of child proof door locks) the steps rotate down. And as for the battery losing charge because of lights left on, bad battery connection, etc. a small spare 12v battery is under the hood with its' own charging system that will take over just in case . And if my key fob was to quit working (which it did one time) I have placed a hidden switch on the vehicle, so when depressed the steps rotate down and I can get into the vehicle with my key. And if little Johnny did not close his door all the way and mom already hit the key fob and the steps go up, they stop at the bottom of the door with no damage. Any other things you may think of please let me know.. and thanks again adams1492
