New Travel Trailer with concerns...
Greetings,
I have a 2007 4.6L 3.55 Ford F-150 we currently tow a lightweight Jayco Jay Feather. The Max tow limit on this model I believe is 6600#. I have an opportunity to get a good deal from my dealer on a Jayco 28R Jay Feather which weighs in at 5200# empty and you can load it up to around 6000#.
Does anyone out there have any experience with trailers like this with the 4.6L? My current 3500# trailer doesn't seem completely light but I guess the difference won't be that much to put on another 2000#? I get around 9-10mpgs now.
Any input sure would be appreciated?

I have jayco that is about what you have now and I pull it with either a 06 expedition or my 06f150 both have the 5.4 and no way would I want to pull with the smaller 4.6.
My trailer is a 20' hybrid and is usually about 4200-4500 loaded. I like to have more tow vehicle than trailer. you might be pushing the limits of that rig with the larger TT.

Thanks for the feedback. I have seen this exact model of TT in my neighborhood towed by a Jeep Liberty and I thought that looked funny, however, if the specs say 6600# I would assume that is within reason? I have timbren installed so toungue weight shouldn't be a problem but I still am a little concerned.

If your worried about how it'll handle ask your dealer if they'll let you test drive it, not every dealer will let you but, if you tell them it'll be the decision maker on the TT they should allow you.

That is a good idea but don't let them just TELL you it will be ok. Salesmen usually know little to nothing about towing and will tell you anything to make a sale. If he starts spitting out numbers you may as well cut him off. If he starts telling you about his camper that may be worth listening to.
