Default New tire choice

Hello, I have a 2006 lariat 4x4 with a 2.5 inch level. I am looking to up the tire size but I can't decide on which size. I am going to keep the stock wheels. I either want to get 275/70R18 bf Goodrich all terrains or I want the 305/65R18 bfgs. I'm having a lot of trouble and wanted some extra opinions. Hope you all can help

Here is a good website that you can input the sizes and it will compare them and give a visual http://tire-size-conversion.com/tire-size-calculator/

As you probably know, the 305/65/18 will be a bit bigger. Not by much though. If I were in your shoes, I would go with the cheaper option and use the extra money for another mod or just save it. Both will look great on your truck. I have the 275/70/18 on mine with a 2" level and they look great. Those bfg all terrain ko are great tires.

Good luck with your decision OP

Thanks that was helpful. My biggest concern is if the tires appear a little too thin. Do you think they look too thin? Also the 305's will obviously perform better off road but how do the 275/70/18's do off road?

In addition, would there be any issues mounting a 305/65r18 on a 7.5 wide wheel?

Looks are subjective, me personally, I would say yes they would look thin because that width is pretty close to stock. That's just my opinion, you're not building this truck to impress me.
As far as offroading, I'm sure the 275's would do just fine. I've never been stuck somewhere and thought "If only my tires were an inch wider I wouldn't have gotten stuck" but yes, technically the 305's should do better.
Tire shops will probably tell you that 305's are to big for a 7.5 inch wheel but I've seen plenty of guys on here do it so I wouldn't be to concerned.

Look into a 295/70R18 tire size. Taller, wider, best of both worlds.

He's got a point. That's the size I run. Ran them on 7.5 inch wheels for a few months without any problems.

Not to hijack, that 295/70 fits on a 2.5 level but what about a 2" with 17x8 and a -12mm offset?

Ended up going with the 305/65r18 bfg at's and they look absolutely amazing. They rode great and as far as I can tell so far(haven't driven it hardly at all yet) they don't rub and if they do it is very minimal. I would highly recommend! Opinions?
