Yep.

OP - did you also use fresh dielectric grease in the boots? And apply it properly, like this:

Damn man, that's a hell of a bummer. I think mine Is just a boot. At times it will act fine like the plug is getting a spark, but then it will just idle real rough.

+1 I would default to what MGD says. He has a hell of a lot more experience working on these rigs than me. I am a mechanic of the shade tree variety.

I will go ahead and be putting dielectric in the boots. That's a great write-up!
