Hi bud.

No problem.

You have 2005? You need to read the 'Injector letter' if yall haven't sen it yet:

Good fer 120K / 11years. Be aware - you may never have an issue, but if one does fail you could hydrolock the engine.

A few folks with 2005 3V's have premptively replaced all 8 with the newer revision units to sidestep this issue.

Yer COPs, if well-maintained (e.g. no pressure-washing), should last a good 150K +. Replace ONLY with Motorcraft or Visteon. Anything else is a crapshoot, qnd you'll be chasin' random misfires - not fun.

Good luck!

**** UPDATE*****

Since my original post after getting new sparkies, I finally had week without snow and 4 wheel drive and got a chance to check my fuel mileage. 11.7mpg! Thats up from 10mpg with the nasty old plugs. That's with mostly city driving, a few 5 minute warm ups, and not being extremely easy on the pedal.

Default Not trying to hijack..

Had an issue with a plug recently...how often do plugs fail? I mean they don't have moving parts...they are simple electrical conductors right? WTH?

I think Ford recommends replacement at 60k. So typically they last quite a while. But I'm sure there are conditions and other variables that can make a plug fail prematurely such as improper air/fuel mixture to name just one.

Whats the mods on your truck? I do the same type of driving with 33" tires and 4.10s and get ~13mpg with a misfire lol

Mine is a 2006. Stock 3.73 gears. 5.4L. I have a Volant CAI and Magnaflow exhaust. I figure the mileage the old way with the trip odometer/ gal burned. Took my 35"s off for the winter so that's with my stock tires.

Is your truck a lot newer? Are you gauging your mpg from your computer dash display?

The original recommendation from Ford was 100K. After Ford learned of all the problems with broken plugs and evaluated plug wear, they changed the interval to 60K.

That's correct. I was just reading that. But Ford dealers recommend 60k only due to carbon build up, not because the actual plug needs replacement. Life expectancy is still 100k, which was the other users question.
