Smile New parts are great...Like early Christmas for the F-150

While no one else may care, I wanted to share my excitement Since I have a XL, the front has all the ugly black textured plastic and the so-so looking 17" rims w/ tires fit for a car (235/70), so I've been looking to get some different rims, a grill and a paintable upper bumper, as I think those changes will really improve the overall look and flow of the truck. This weekend, I found 2 of the pieces: a H-Bar grill with a paintable perimeter (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...%3AIT&viewitem= ) and a set of FX4 rims http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...%3AIT&viewitem= ).

I'm pretty happy with the price of both. Obviously, I'll have to have the grill painted to match, along with the upper bumper whenever I finally find one, but $60 isn't bad. Also, I know that the FX4 rims are nothing special, and they have a bit of rash, but I really like the FX4 rims and have yet to see another set of 18" rims, factory or aftermarket, that I like even half as much; and, can't beat the price for a full set of 18s in decent shape.

Now, I just need to find an upper bumper, get a set of proper tires (not sure exactly what tires yet, but wider with more aggresive tread), and get the replacement pieces painted to match, then the exterior will be where I want it to be Add a new stereo head unit and an exhaust, and it should be just about perfect, or my idea of it anyway

A lot of guys are grabing inside door panels for there XL off junked XLT. The truck is prewired for power windows and locks. There are some good write ups here on how to do it. Just a thought

Pre-wired for the power windows and locks? Hell yeah, I'm gonna have to see if I can find a set of panels, lock actuators, and window operators!

Thanks guys. It'll be a couple months before any of it goes on, but I'll definitely be posting pics once I do get the parts installed

I've done some searches in the "How-To" forum, using keywords such as 'door' and 'panel,' but haven't found any articles relating to this topic. Do you have a link?

I just did a quick search and found these two. At least this will point you to other members that have done the mod.
