Default New Pads & Rotors?

Has anyone switched to a drilled and slotted rotor, along with ceramic pads?
Or even tried ceramic pads on stock rotors?
I'm tired of the brake dust with the factory brakes, especially the fronts.

Softer pads will provide better braking, but produce more dust. Harder pads such as semi-metallic are harder, produce less dust, but braking is a bit less, and can squeel. There are "in betweens" that you can use, and ceramic is one type of pad that has been successful by most.

Going to slotted and/or drilled rotors will help by keeping the pads and rotors cool by allowing heat and gas buildup to vent off, but I doubt it would help the dust problem much.

Try the ceramic pads first before spending a lot of bucks on slotted/drilled rotors. You can always add them later of you have the money to burn.

I got the semi metallic and they get so hot that they smoke and smell. will the ceramic pads work better? I can't stand the brake dust on the rims.

What sucks is the fact that i have 37k miles on my truck and i have had my rotors turned once in the past and now it feels as though they need to be turned again, if they can be turned again and i need new brake pads.

So you went with the stock Ford replacement rotors at Auto Zone? Whats the benifit of the ceramic discs? Do they cool better or is it just to prevent the dust?

I bought the Autozone semi-metallics. they stink and smoke I guess I will change to the ceramic and buy some new rotors.
