Hey all! First off, I wanted to say thanks to everyone. I just got a hell of a deal on a 04 FX4 that has had some issues and lurking around the threads I've found some great answers and helpful guides to fixing up some of the problems.

I took my truck to the dealership before I bought it and had them do an inspection on it. One thing they noted was I needed to replace my pinion nut. I'm a bit confused as to why this would have been recommended? Wouldn't they have to take the shaft off to see the nut? The seal is intact and there's no leaking.

Anyone have a suggestion as to why they'd recommend doing this?
