These are the parts I found. Are they too cheap. The price difference is drastic. I have used parts sources like this with some luck. I'm gonna research this and read reviews and decide. I've paid $100 for a melling oil pump alone. Seems quite cheap to me compared to OEM.

I would read reviews of the products you'll be looking at on Amazon. It guides me threw the good and bad.

I did. I found that the parts are Japanese. I like Toyota and such. How bad can they be? Japanese cars are pretty good. And for a third of the price, I'm doing the work myself. I guess I'll be a guinea pig and post my results to save everyone money or avoid them. I'm furloughed from the railroad right now. So by the time I get back know to work I can buy OEM later and redo it I guess. I just don't have $1000 dollars to spend on timing parts alone.

Well we tried telling you. Others already HAVE been the guinea pigs and they have reported failures in as soon as 5K miles because they used something other than OEM Motorcraft parts. You did say you want to keep the truck for a long time, so wouldnt you want parts that will last?

Definitely a job you'll be revisiting. At least go OEM with the phaser if money has you in a jam.

Has anyone looked into and done the cam phaser lock out and software flash? I understand it eliminates ALL future problems with cam phasers and basically turns it into a sprocket. While the software flash to the ECM changes 22 parameters to retain stock HP and torque values. I spoke with a tech at Freedom racing and also Livernois technologies about it. Pretty expensive at $700 for the kit and flash driver, but could be a good upgrade later. I've decided to go with OEM components and do this once and for all.
