Default new, To ME...truck, and I have a couple questions

Hey all,
My name is Bill, and Irecently bought a 2007 F-150 Lariat 4X4. Igot it from a car lot and even though the truck is loaded, it didn't come with a remote key fob, or integrated key to unlock the doors, remote start, etc. My question is, how can Itell if the truck has a remote unlock type security system and if it does, is the dealership my only option for a new remote? Also, how does one go about resetting the code on the drivers door external keypad?
I have been looking around for this info, but it eludes me! My BMW is simple, a VINcheck tells me every item my car was born with, but Ican't find this for my truck. Any info is much appreciated.

This should help somewhat. Some of the other questions I'm unsure of the answers.

Owner's manual. You should be able to get a remote off of ebay, just look for the compatability charts. they come with programing instructions.
Also, your owners manual has instructions aswell.
That's a pretty basic option, if you have electic locks, you'll have the remote option. Maybe not remote start though.
The code for the keypad is on your vehical computer unit. On my 05 screw it's located behind the rear seat. I found instructions on you tube on how to remove the rear seat back.

It definitely came with a remote from the factory. But you should be able to just go on ebay and buy one for your truck. It's very easy to program to your truck. If you need any help programming let me know. Or look in the owners manual on programming.

And if you don't have an owners manual, simply google "2007 F-150 owners manual", and you'll see that you can get a free PDF version from several Ford sites.

Don't pay a dealership to do the remote. I don't know what they charge but its not worth it. Buy a compatible remote off ebay. Like this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-New-3-butt...VXmayp&vxp=mtr

Now to program the remotes. Directly from the Owners manual.

Programming remote transmitters

It is necessary to have all (maximum of six — original and/or new) of

your remote transmitters available prior to beginning this procedure. If

all remote entry transmitters are not present during the programming

procedure, the transmitters that are not present during programming will

no longer operate the vehicle.

To program the transmitters yourself:

Note: Ensure the brake pedal is not

depressed during this sequence.

Unlock all doors using the power

door lock/unlock control. Insert a

key and turn the ignition from

the 1 (OFF/LOCK) to the 3 (ON)

position and cycle between

1 (OFF/LOCK) and 3 (ON) eight

times in rapid succession (within

10 seconds) with the eighth turn

ending in the 3 (ON) position. The locks will cycle to confirm that the

programming mode has been entered.

Within 20 seconds, program a remote transmitter by pressing any

button on a transmitter. The locks will cycle once to confirm that the

remote transmitter has been programmed. (If more than 20 seconds

pass before pressing a remote transmitter button, the programming

mode will exit and the procedure will have to be repeated.)

Repeat the previous step to program additional remote transmitters.

The locks will cycle once to confirm that each remote transmitter has

been programmed.

When you have completed programming the remote transmitters, turn

the ignition to the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position or wait 20 seconds. Again

the doors will lock/unlock to confirm programming has been

completed.

As for the keypad on the door you will need the factory code. It is on a box behind the back seat I think. Also I know older fords used to put it on the computer box under the hood. Mine came with a little card in the owners manual with the code on it. Once you have the code it is just a matter of pressing the buttons in the right sequence.

Programming a personal entry code

To create your own personal entry code:

1. Enter the factory set code (keypad will illuminate when pressed).

2. Within five seconds press the 1 2 on the keypad.

3. Enter your personal 5-digit code. Each number must be entered

within five seconds of each other.

4. After the code is entered, the locks will cycle, confirming that the new

code has been set.

Tips:

Do not set a code that uses five of the same number.

Do not use five numbers in sequential order.

The factory set code will work even if you have set your own personal

code.

If you set a second personal code it will erase your first personal code.

Erasing personal code

1. Enter the factory set 5–digit code.

2. Press and release 1 2 then,

3. Press and hold the 1 2 for two seconds. This must be done within

five seconds of completing Step 1.

Your personal code is now erased and only the factory set 5–digit code

will work.
