Default New to me 2007 fx4

Hey guys, picked up a 2007 scab fx4 with 236xxx miles. Motor locked up on the previous owner who traded it in that way so I was able to get a good deal on it. Body is in good condition other than the front bumper and a scratch here or there. Dug into the motor and it looked like it had been spewing anti freeze for 100k miles. Also had about a quart of oil in it, that's it! Otherwise love the look of these trucks.

Bought a new 5.4 3v right from ford and dropped it in this weekend with the help of a few buddies. Needed TP replace a few other parts but that was to be expected. Fired up wight after. Have a few more ancillary thing to replace before its back on the road (tranny cooler line, manifolds, etc.) but this has started out to be a pretty cool project. This is my 5th f150 but first of this generation, can't wait to get it done. Thanks.

That's pretty cool man. Great to see that kind of dedication. Good luck with the project.

Looks good, mechanic's specials can be quite a steal. Mind sharing what you have into it?

Thanks. Truck itself was 3500, motor was 3800 and another 1000 for the ancillary parts. I added a new starter power steering pump pulleys etc.

Thanks all. I have more plans for it as well. Looking to get a 6 inch lift with 35's, CAI, programmer, different grille, blacked out headlights etc but that will come with time.

Yesterday we got the exhaust manifolds in transmission lines installed and got it started and out on the road. Then something odd started. It started hesitating so I thought it had a bad coil, no big deal. But then I noticed that the tach and a few other gauges go dead when it hesitates and dash lights come on as if the truck is not running with the key in the on position before starting. All of this is with the motor running.

We hooked it up to the scan tool and couldn't pull any codes. Our guess was the PCM ( don't know if this is the right acronym) but in short the underwood computer with the three large disconnect plugs located on the passenger side firewall. Anyone have any thoughts?

Front bumper was rusted beyond repair so I ended up getting a new bumper PTM for my birthday from my wife. Makes a world of difference after we installed it today. Install wasn't that bad. Also got a set of bushwhacker pocket style flares PTM as well, but not putting those on until after I lift it and get wheels and tires.
