I am wanting to open the range, but I guess heres a big question. What is the remedy to fix the phaser issue and the plugs?? I mean if I take the plunge on one of these trucks, is this going to run me a fortune to have it fixed??

Also the 09 is the newer body style, so im Slightly leaning towards it for some reason which I am not sure yet why. Is their a fix for the vct issue you guys are speaking of??

Again I appreciate you guys helping me out, reading through these threads is tough b/c many of them are super old so any help is awesome on the remedies for these issues.

This will tell you everything you need to know about fixing it yourself in the first few pages no matter how old the pages are. Cost to have someone else fix it? That will vary from location to location and dealer to dealer. My estimate was $2500 to do everything described in that thread. That was from a dealer in SW Nebraska. Also I don't know about doing it in a 09+ model it may be slightly different, I can't tell you. If done with Motorcraft parts and well maintained you should be good for a long time. If you use aftermarket you could be back in there next week. Do it right and take care of it and it will last you. So ask many many questions about this before you buy. When, who, quality of parts, and follow up maintenance. As for the plugs, do them once the right way and they will come out just fine the next time. They will require normal maintenance that any other plug in any other engine would after that.
