I have a set of these head lights and you can not run HID bulbs in them...make sure you seal them up good.

Why can't you run HIDs in them?

You can run hid I used to run them on mines, I had 35w 5000 and didn't melt it. First pic is when I had hids and second was the first day I put them on.

How do you like them? I don't think they look bad.

is the outer light just extra? (outer next to main one)

I say build your own. Buy some universal ones, paint them how you want it, then retrofit Halos and projectors from TRS since they are far better quality than anything pre-built aftermarket.

Doesn't it cost twice as much to get the retro fit kits? Not only that, you have to do all the work. I don't mind the work, but how much combined money do you have in your retro fits?

They were great. The outer light was just the parking light.

Thank you sir. Mine was a decent bit of work, but I also didn't install the easiest projector. There are smaller, easier projectors that are very easy to install and aim (specifically, the morimoto Mini).

As for cost, mine ran me about $300 for the complete retrofit kit from TRS and $30-40 for materials to do the job. All in all, totally worth it for performance on par or better than OEM Mercedes, Infinity, BMW, etc. Probably my favorite mod, to be honest.

It might cost twice as much as drop-in HIDs, but the quality and performance is 10x better and it is also much safer for others on the road.
