If you decide retrofit I suggest these bulbs over anything on the market. Huge improvement over the Moritomo's and others I tried: Osram 66240NB Xenarc D2S Nightbreaker Bulb
I like those, unfortunately they only have them for 2015 F150's and up. not sure what that means to us aftermarket guys but...
Since I need to open up my stock housing for the XKGlow, I figured just painting and using the existing stock housing I have. Taking out the reflective dish and using the retrofit. Are you saying D2S is what type I'll be using?
Everyone has been helpful, but putting all the pieces together is the challenge.
But what if I use my old stock headlamps and get a different lamp housing, I'd paint the inside flat black and use an aftermarket lamp, kinda like this one below...
or are these not for sale and I'm stuck buying this whole kit?
I want to go with LED or stay with HID, and I'm in the dark about what my real options are for turning my stock headlights into the picture above. I'm going to use the XKGlow in the new headlight so I don't need Halos.
Help?
I bought these exact ones off eBay for my 2005 F150. i love them and did not have to do any type of extra sealing to them. I run a 5000K HID with a clear to amber LED turn signal. No problems at all. I live in south florida so the rain here is significant at times and do not have any fogging. The adjustments are just fine do make sure you have the proper cut off line. Hope this helps.
