Default new gas door cover

on my 04 fx4 i have some rust starting on my gas door and i was just going to replace it with one of those black gas cap covers does anyone else have one and can i see some pics of how they install or how they are mounted to the bedside

wth, your gas door is metal? mine is all plastic.

IMO, i would just try to get another OEM one. or you can try to stop the rust and then just paint it black yourself.

well my friend and I both own '04 fx4's and we both had the same rusting problem. i think it was a factory default on how spill gas made that small area rust. i had mine taken care of at a body shop (along with many other small dings, etc) but he just bought a chrome cap at autozone or advance auto or something and used touch-up paint over the rust.

fyi if you go to a bodyshop with this problem, they have to repaint that whole side of the box if you want it done right

most of those cheap cap covers just stick on with 3m adhesive

Didn't know u had a metal door on an 04.. Mine is an 07 and it's plastic..

you can always go to a local yard. they don't inventory these parts so most of the time they sell them for really cheap.

none of my local yards have anything as new as my truck i am just thinking about buying a new OEM door

Might want to consider a locking aftermarket door. I got one in the classifieds (on this site) for under 20 bucks. Black billit with a lock. Cheaper than buying an OEM, and then getting it painted.
