Default New front hub assembly 2005 4x4

I've got a bad front hub assembly on my truck. How hard a job is it to change?
Do I need any specialty tools? who's done one on there truck?
Thanks for any feedback. I don't want to get into something I can't finish.

It's not bad at all. If you're mechanically inclined, should be no issue. Check out this step by step (http://www.f150online.com/forums/200...ics-video.html)

Let me know if you have any questions, I've done this job more than a few times.

I would suggest you replace them both...

Don't cheap out on a brg either. Get you a good brand like Timken, SKF, or a National (Moog). Plenty of visual help on youtube also.

I just replaced both my front hub assemblies Saturday. It took less than 2 hours and I'm no mechanic. You'll need a breaker bar, if you don't have one. I bought Timken hubs from Amazon.

thanks again for the replies guys. I was going to cheap out until told otherwise. I bought the timken from rockauto, it was a little less than amazon. If this one goes well, I'll do the other one later.

Just did both of mine a few weeks ago. Biggest pain in the *** for my is just brakes removal. Dont need to drop the knuckle. When your putting it back in make sure you grease it up well, and dont let the ring gasket pop off and get pinched

Basic hand tools (breaker bar, 1/2 in drive with sockets, 1/4 in drive with small sockets and extension for the cv axle nut under the dust cap)
Large C clamp to compress the brake piston
Clothes hanger wire to hold the brake assembly up
Allen head wrench for the ABS sensor
5 lb mini sledge to tap out the hub

Let us know how it goes!

Well, that was really easy! took about an hour. No need for any four letter words, no busted knuckles. Thanks again to those who helped.

this truck just rolled over 300k miles last week, I'm going to keep going for a while longer, we'll see...It has all original timing components, original tranny, original 5.4 motor (7 lugger).
