Hi all, I have a question about a possible purchase I might make. I own a 2006 f250 now and I'm looking to sell it and move into an f150. I know a guy who's selling a very clean 2004 f150 supercab lariat 4x4. He bought the truck new and just had a leveling kit, bf goodrich 33's put on and a brand new motor installed because the old one had the cam phaser issues. The truck itself has 175000 miles, but like I said the motor is literally a week old. He would sell it to me for $9,000. Is this a good deal or should I stay away because of the mileage? Thank you for any replies.

Well if you want a f-150 that's what they are all going to cost . It's a tough call, it is a lot of miles but a new motor. I say gauge it by how the rest of the truck has been kept. $9000 is fair but you know your going to have to put a few bucks into it.

A new motor and he will sell the truck for $9K? Sounds fishy to me. Is it a fresh engine (fresh rebuild)? A Ford rebuilt installed costs $6K. I know there are less expensive........But if you are set on it, just like above, check the rest of the truck. And have it inspected by an independent mechanic you trust. The pay kind, not a good buddy. $100 for an inspection might save you some big $$ or tell you you are getting a steal.

Thank you for the replies. The guy is a family friend, that's why I would be getting the truck for $9000. Also the motor is a factory 5.4 fresh rebuild.
