Sunday I purchased my first Ford, a 2006 F-150 Reg cab XL 8-ft bed with the 5.4L Triton. It has 38,000 miles and was a government truck, that I bought from a dealer for 10,800. Where should I start on my maintenance and what should I have looked into? It runs great and looks fantastic.

Change the oil, If theres no cam phasers knocking. Keep ridin and enjoy!.

You probably have no idea what oil they have been putting in it since new tho. Most government trucks just get like 10w30 poured in them. You can try Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w20 tho. I for one am a schaeffer's fan from napa.

Run a full synthetic 5w30. It will save the timing components. That's all I have ever ran and I'm over 200k with no issues and engine is quiet as when new.
